SUSPENSION ANNOUNCEMENT

Effective March 1, 2026, the Prosecutors for Prosecutors Campaign has been indefinitely suspended.

Over the past three years, the generous support of our donors has changed the lives of many former Afghan prosecutors and their family members by helping bring them to safety. Through this campaign, over 100 prosecutors and their 500 family members were relocated to safety in more than 12 countries.

Unfortunately, a series of global developments has made it impossible to continue this critical work:

The suspension of the U.S. Refugee Admissions Program (USRAP) on January 20, 2025, eliminated the only viable U.S. pathway for Afghan prosecutors seeking safe haven.

The concurrent U.S. decision to halt funding for NGOs and nonprofits engaged in refugee relocation and resettlement further compounded these challenges.

During this same period, many of our international allies also reduced or closed their own acceptance programs for U.S. and I.S.A.F. partners.

Recent conflicts in the Middle East, including hostilities involving the United States and Iran as well as the conflict between Pakistan and Afghanistan, have further destabilized the region and created additional barriers to the safety and movement of those we seek to help.

Without USRAP or an equivalent mechanism, there is simply no path to bring our former rule of law allies to safety in the United States. Combined with the reduction of international resettlement programs and the deteriorating security environment across the region, we are unable to carry out the mission of this campaign at this time.

We remain deeply grateful to every donor, volunteer, taskforce member and founding organization who made the PFP Campaign's work possible. The lives saved and families reunited over the past three years stand as a testament to what this community accomplished together.

We remain extremely worried about Afghan prosecutors now stranded abroad, unable to return home and unable to move forward to a safe country. We call on all countries to offer them protection and relocation.

We will continue to monitor developments and will provide updates on any changes that may allow us to resume operations in the future.
